Pediatric Eye Exam

Early eye exams and vision management establish how your child experiences the world. Proper visual skills are imperative for educational, social, and athletic development. Basically, it impacts every aspect of your child’s life. Because the ability to see clearly is only one factor in the successful development, a comprehensive eye exam is needed to detect problems with visual tracking, coordinated use of the eyes, and focusing abilities. A vision screening only measures visual acuity, but there is so much more to healthy vision development!

Pediatric Eye Exam

Early identification of eye problems is crucial to effective treatment since a child’s visual system is more responsive during the developmental period. For this reason, the American Optometric Association and Dr. Miller recommend the following:

  • Infants should have their first eye exam at 6 months of age

  • Children should have an eye exam at age 3, and

  • Before starting first grade
